Piotr Anderszewski Recital
Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski made an auspicious
debut, too, Tuesday night at the festival, though his program
was lower in temperature, far more laid back. He was spotless,
effortless facility, a shining, resonant tone and deeply sensitive
musicality. He played Bach's Overture in French Style with
exquisite clarity of line and transparency of texture, and
in 10 Grieg Lyric Pieces made the piano sing with gentle calm.
The flashes of brilliance in Szymanowski's Scheherezade gave
glints of a more extroverted personality worth discovering
another time in other repertory.
