German pianist Jonas Aumiller is the winner of the 3rd International Brahms Competition Detmold and silver medalist of the 12th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan.

He won the second prize and three special prizes, including the orchestra prize, the Chopin prize, and a CD production, at the 27th Rina Sala Gallo Monza International Piano Competition in Italy, and the silver medal and the audience prize at the 8th Sendai International Music Competition in Japan. In 2025, he received the Raymond E. Buck Jury Discretionary Award at the 17th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Aumiller was also awarded prizes at the 16th Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany, at the Premio Baselga di Piné in Italy, and at the Vendome Prize in New York.

Born in Munich, Jonas Aumiller received his first piano lessons at the age of seven. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree summa cum laude at the Conservatorio F.A. Bonporti in Trento, Italy, under the tutelage of Massimiliano Mainolfi.

Since 2018, Aumiller has worked with the world-renowned pianist and pedagogue Sergei Babayan, first at the Juilliard School in New York and later at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), where he completed his Master of Music degree. In May 2024, he received his Artist Diploma from CIM, along with the Hope and Stanley Adelstein Prize for Excellence in Composition and Performance.

A former scholarship holder of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation and the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Aumiller was most recently a scholarship holder of the Swiss Pierino Ambrosoli Foundation.

Jonas Aumiller performed at Bellevue Palace in Berlin at the invitation of former German President Joachim Gauck. He has given recitals in Germany, Italy, the USA, Barbados, Switzerland, and Japan.

Highlights of past seasons include piano concerto performances with the North West German Philharmonic, the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.

A special moment was Aumiller’s solo recital at the opening of the celebratory weekend to mark the 250th anniversary of the Bagno Concert Gallery, the oldest free-standing concert hall in Europe. Another highlight was his invitation to the Verbier Festival, performing both solo and chamber music, where he also received the Tabor Foundation Award for Piano.

This season, Aumiller is embarking on a concert tour of Japan. In the summer, he will perform at the Mezzano Romantica Festival in Trentino, Italy. In November, he is one of four pianists invited to perform at the Yokohama International Piano Concert in Japan.

A great admirer of the pianistic traditions of the 19th and 20th century, Aumiller transcribes orchestra and organ works for piano and performs them regularly in his recitals.
